Apollo has decided that he likes his crate. He no longer tries to eat his way out! Knock on wood, he has not counter surfed in some time! He is listening to commands more and more. I think he's finally getting the swing of things around here. He still likes to play, doesn't mind going outside when it's raining. He does great at the park. He's in constant surveillance mode watching over the kids as they play. I can drop his leash and he will stay right next to me. Of course if the kids call him, he's off like a rocket!
He hasn't had any accidents in the house so I'm going to move his status to house trained. He does appear to want to bolt when you open a door, so we are working on the stay command when a door is open or about to be opened. I do not feel he would be good with cats. He saw some across the street and you could see the Pork chops in his eyes! I couldn't get the door closed fast enough.
The worst part of the day for Apollo is when the kids leave for school, the best part is play time, which is about 2 hours in the morning and 1 hour in the evening. We call it "nuisance hour" because around here, not only are 4 dogs running around like wild banshee's, but two kids doing the same thing!
We will continue to work with Apollo on his bad habits, like trying to bolt and grabbing your feet when you walk! If you aren't paying attention, you could end up on the floor, just where he wants you! Apollo is great with everyone. He has never met a stranger. He would do well in a home with experienced children and adults. He is by no means Alpha, he's just pushy. Oh and, he hates fireworks.
Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids
