Daxter here! Coming to you live from my foster home! Thank you for the chance to speak with you and tell you my story. I know opportunities like this do not come around every day so I want to assure you that it means a lot to me that you are here and reading my story.  I know this because I was once part of a family, or at least I thought I was. I loved them, but I guess they didn’t love me as much as I loved them.  I’m getting ahead of myself though. Sorry about that. I’ll tell you more about that later.

So I was found roaming the streets. If you can believe it I was running down the very busy feeder road of the highway you all call the Beltway. I’m not going to lie. There were a lot of cars and it was a bit scary. Thankfully a really nice good Samaritan stopped and helped me off the street. They took me home, gave me a meal, and had me scanned for a microchip. Everyone was so happy when it turned out that I had a chip. They thought it meant they were going to get to reunite me with my family. But I knew they were wrong, I just didn’t have any way to tell them. They soon found out what I knew though. They found out that I was no longer wanted or welcome there anymore. When they called the number on the microchip they were told to keep me and that they didn’t want me back.

That hurt. I was ashamed and thought I was going to end up back on the street. Boy was I wrong about that though. The nice person who found me assured me they were going to try and help and help they did! They contacted Houston Boxer Rescue and asked if they would help find me a home. And that is how I ended up where I am now. Writing to you from a warm and cozy foster home where I get food, shelter, and the coolest thing of all… Love! And I love it!

So now that you know my history, let me catch you up to the present and tell you what the good folks at HBR already know about me. They know that I am about four years old and that I’m really smart. Since being in my foster home I have been able to learn to not go to the bathroom in the house, to sit like a good boy, and play and chillax with the other dogs in the house. What I love most though is to just be around people. I constantly want to show my love and gratitude for their love and for letting me in off the streets. I even tried to protect my foster family from the evil furball cats that had taken up residence there, but for some reason they did not like that very much. I stopped chasing them for now, but I still have my eye on them and I am ready to pounce should they make one move against my foster family. A dog’s got to do what a dog’s got to do. You know what I mean? And let me assure you that if you choose to make my dream come true and make me a permanent member of your family I will love you whole heartedly and unconditionally too. And I will protect you against cats as well!

Okay. I guess I should move on. Who wants to talk about cats any more than they have to? Let me tell you a little more about me. Since I was on the street, you will probably notice that I am skinny and I have a few scars here and there. That is because the streets are rough and it wasn’t easy out there. But that’s okay. That part of my life is over now. However there is one thing that still remains from my time on the streets and that is that I have heartworms. But don’t worry, the people at HBR are sticking by me and have agreed to continue my treatment and pay for it even if I am adopted before they are all gone. And the best part is that I will recover from those heart worms and be 100% yours really soon!

So you know everything. You know my past and my present. You know I will love you forever and stick to you like velcro! You know I will always have your back and protect you. Basically, I am ready to go all in! Are you ready to go all in? If so why don’t you go ahead and fill out the adoption application!
